The Noodle Box Nutritional Information
Nutrition Information
Noodle Box Food is cooked by hand, fresh to order from whole ingredients that are prepared in each restaurants’ kitchen. We take food quality seriously and strive to provide foods that are fresh, flavourful, healthy and balanced. Because we cook in this way, we are able to offer a menu that customers may modify to their own dietary and nutritional needs. Let our staff know if you have dietary preferences or intolerance’s when you are placing your order.
A result of cooking food by hand is that inevitably there will be some variation between our products. This is the human element. Although we strive to maximize consistency, we also celebrate this traditional relationship between food producers, cooks and the customer.
Food Safety
The Noodle Box runs its kitchens in strict compliance with the HACCP system of food safety. All staff are trained to Foodsafe Level 1. We are proud of our standards and record, and welcome any inquiries or concerns.
Allergies
The Noodle Box prides itself on being able to cook for people who suffer from a wide variety of food sensitivities. Celiacs, and the lactose intolerant are commonly catered to with a variety of menu options available to them. When confronted with an allergy, our cooks will reset their station with fresh utensils, cloths and clean hands, and pay close attention to the cooking process to ensure your confidence in the integrity of our product.
Having said this, we cannot guarantee anything 100%, wok frying can be chaotic and we ask our customers to take responsibility for making informed choices about their diet.
IMPORTANT – The Noodle Box roasts and grinds peanuts in-house, and their absence cannot be guaranteed. While our stores are all equipped with Epi-pens, if you have a severe allergy to peanuts we recommend you do not eat our food.
Nutritional Information
As of March 2012 The Noodle Box now offers a full nutritional breakdown of our food. This information is available through the right portion of this page, simply click on the item that you are interested in knowing about and follow the prompts. Please keep in mind that the information displayed is for a 30 oz portion.
We were able to offer this service by partnering with a local Victoria company called Health Nexxus.
Some Nutritional Facts
Our portion size is a generous 30 ounce serving. Some of our food is seasoned with Fish Sauce. We can make most items on our menu vegan by request, and are now making our Spicy Peanut sauce vegan. The majority of our dishes contain three times the amount of recommended vegetable portion from health Canada.
We do not add MSG to any of our cooking, but it does occur occasionally in some of the products we use, (just ask our staff)
We offer organic, non-GMO tofu, and also a premium organic / free range chicken on request.
Where possible we select Ocean-wise seafoods, and avoid farmed salmon.
Trans Fats / Saturated Fats we do not use, nor are we aware of any trans fats in any of our products.
We use coconut milk in many of our dishes and often receive queries as to the health aspects of the fats in this product. Our own research into this has found that while coconut milk does contain saturated fats, the type of these fats is plant based, and, unlike saturated fats found in certain meats, these plant based saturated fats have not been conclusively shown to be related to any increase risk of heart disease or rise in the so-called ‘bad’ cholesterol levels.
Some tips for healthy eating
If you want a healthier Noodle Box product, here are some modifications we recommend:
Split box – This easily allows you to eat half now and save the other half for later. (There are guidelines for cooling and reheating on the box.)
Add Extra Vegetables – We use less of the carbohydrate component and add a generous portion of our fresh vegetables.
No Carb Box – We completely omit the carbohydrate component of the dish and make up the space with extra vegetables and a bigger portion of our lean proteins.
Add Brown Rice – (This is available in some stores), Brown Rice has increased amounts of fiber than regular white rice.
